Hi, I just thought I should bring this article to peoples attention. The article mentions that Diane 35 (ethinyl estradiol ) is not recommended for trangenders: " ...I do not recommend, due to its association with thromboembolic complications (see Toorians et al. (2003). Venous thrombosis and changes of hemostatic variables during cross-sex hormone treatment in transsexual people. Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 88, 5723-5729.)." Source: http://transhealth.transadvocacy.com/Protocols/Some%20Typical%20Hormone%20Regimens.htmI will also mention that my body has not responded to Diane 35 well. I have just had my hormone levels taken and despite taking the highest dose of estrogen I have ever taken, my hormone levels are showing me as normal levels of testosterone (for a woman) but with very low levels of estrogen (lower than a post menopausal woman). I changed to Diane 35 6 months ago because I read that it was a better hormone. Apparently, for me it is not. This explains why over the last few months I am not passing as well as I used to. I even looked at photos as recent as 12 months ago and I can see my face is more masculine now. You can imagine how uneasy I am about this. My primal fear is that this is irreversible. I am hoping that only being 6 months months and the fact I have been on hormones for so long will mean this is not the case. I have a endocrinologists appointment in 3 weeks (the longest three weeks of my life I think). He is a specialist in transsexual hormone treatment so I am hoping he will be able to help me. I just thought I would share this as it is a good reminder that hormone regimes are not one size fits all. M.

Thanks for sharing girls! I've never used Diane 35 but this information will help me to avoid using it in the future.

Hi, OzTgirl, thanks so much for the info...I was just about to plough through the net to find it all, and you neatly served it up on a platter for me! An aquaintance was trying to convince me injected hormones were better, but I was pretty sure they were not nearly as effective. cheers, Tony

I swear by the injectable hormones but having said that, it could be that the type of hormone was more important. Hopefully I will have a new hormone regime by the end of next week.
It has really bugged me that I have effectively not been taking hormones for 6 months. I can only hope that it is not irreversible. The only upside I guess is that the cyproterone has had a positive result. My leg hairs have become very fine and a lot have gone blonde. A lot of my facial hair is now blonde but I am not sure if that is just the laser treatment. I may continue with the cyproterone after changing hormones. I will talk with my endocrinologist.

Don't worry, it's not irreversible. You'll soon be back to where you were.
The anti-androgens will be doing wonders for reducing body hair to feminine proportions.
Let us know how it goes.

I was lucky with body hair. I took after Mum and not Dad but I have noticed that even my pubic hair is softer (sorry if that is too much info ).

I have convinced myself so much that I look like a truck driver in drag that I was gob smacked today when asked if I was a miss or mrs. I just paused and said "miss". A lady I have known for 18 months suggested that I should have a baby with the man I met in Greece last year. I just smiled and said maybe. Besides the obvious fact that she doesn't have a clue that I am ts, it seems I must spend a lot of time talking about this man. Anyhow, my point being, when these things happen I am a lot more optimistic about sorting the hormone problem out. It worries me that I have gotten my knickers in a twist over this one. Mame

The wait was too much, I went to my GP and practically begged her to give me a script for Estrofem. She was happy to do so. I took my first dose about 5 mintues after getting the script. This will keep me happy until I see the endocrinologist on the 27th.

M, you DON'T look like a truckie in drag! You do mention Greece a fair bit...hehehe. I think you fell in love with Greece like I did with Germany. You can talk about anything here, even your pubic hair going soft. (Thought about removing it entirely?) As for me, I'm covered in dense red hair, inherited from my Dad, so I'd make about the least passable TS imaginable...my beard and moustache wouldn't help either! Glad you got your Estrofem...it'll help untwist the knickers. So straight from the GP to the pharmacy? Have a great weekend, M. I'll think of you as I have a souvlaki tonight. Tony
