Hello, my name is Zoey. I guess the best way to describe myself is a transsexual girl (i.e. male-to-female) lesbian. I sometimes hear it described as 'male lesbian', but that always elicits weird looks. I am pre-op, and I'm not sure if I want to go through with gender reassignment surgery, partially due to financial issues (read: poor college student ;) ).

I grew up in a conservative Christian home, and used to be the textbook Christian kid. This extended to homophobia; I used to think that being gay was immoral and wrong. In my early puberty, I began to have strange thoughts... odd dreams where I would find myself as a girl, or being attracted to guys I knew. I began to suspect that I might be transsexual... but I pushed the whole thing to the back of my mind, since my environment and peers were so intolerant of that kind of thing.

Once I left my isolated and overprotective Christian community and moved to college, I realized that I had been using my religion as a weak excuse to discriminate against others, particularly those with alternative gender identities. It was then that I realized I had been suppressing my 'inner girl' for too long, and finally accepted my gender identity as a female. I have elected to remain 'in the closet', however, while I explore what it means to be a girl, in order to avoid alienating my family and friends. I hope to reveal myself to them when I can be sure that they'll accept me for who I am; in the meantime, I'm perfectly content to keep my gender identity a secret and explore it in private. I guess you could say I have a secret identity. ^_^

I guess I'll end with a little information about myself. I'm very interested in Japanese language and culture, and am majoring in the Japanese language in college. I'm not a gamer, but I do enjoy the occasional shooter or Star Wars game. My favorite genre is science fiction (I got that from my Mom) and my favorite author is Robert Heinlein (for Starship Troopers). I'm a huge fan of Gundam, and I build the plastic models as a hobby. My fav color is pink, and I buy everything I can from tape dispensers to t-shirts in that color. I am a cat person, and own a female tuxedo that I generally just refer to as "cat". I am currently athiest, although I want to explore Buddhism in the future.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. I'm glad to be here!

Thanks!
I was afraid I overdid it a bit with the intro.

Welcome Zoey to our corner of the web. It also nice to sort of meet another Heinlein fan (I must have read Starship Troopers at least 20 times, but was very disappointed with the film).

@oz3male: Yeah, I didn't like the film either. I wish the book would get a faithful film adaptation. I was a big fan of the Roughnecks: Starship Trooper Chronicles show though.

It's nice to meet you all! ^_^
