I'm wondering why there are SO MANY transsexual girls in South-East Asia?
Especially in Thailand and Philippines.

Any ideas?

I can agreed that it's a lot of transgender in my country.
If you ask me why... may be because of our culture...

I guess that statement a little bit generalization..

from my point of view there are a lot of transgender from western and europe countries. its just that asian transgender get more attention just because they are asian. and probably asian transgender are more in "group" or live in same circle or community.

just an opinion.

Yes, probably it can be an answer.

maybe it has something to do with the physical structure of the body
Thai women and men do not differ that much. Most have tiny built
bodies.
Go to western Europe and the americas you see that men are bigger and
have broader shoulders then women.
So when a thai man starts to dress up and use make up he will be recognized as a ladyboy but in the western world he will end up as a transvestite (and not looking good in his high heels size 46.....)

When you start to count tv and ts in europe and compare them to thailand maybe there isn't that big difference at all.

Hi,

I agree with you about the whole body shape issue, and from a western perspective, there are not many western men who are good at picking up (to our eyes) finer differences in appearance between asian women and TS/TG. Mind you, I've also seen that in reverse. My Japanese martial arts teacher can't tell the westerners in her class apart despite ( to me) obvious differences!

There are other factors too, I think culturally in the West, unless you're a passable TS/TG, there is a degree of discrimination, so can be discouraging for some who would wish to change. Thailand and the Philippines seems much more relaxed about transgender issues. I was surprised about that in the Philippines, given the strong Catholic influence on the country.

I also hate to admit it, but economic factors would come into play too. An attractive TS can make money more easily than a man. Not just as a "bar girl"/ GRO, but also in places like retail sales, secretarial work, etc etc.

cheers,
Tony

One reason why we are here is to make the whole world alive we do all kinds of show just to make people happy in that sense when i child see us portray a character and they see us very nice they will be influence. In that it will be inculcated in the mind of the child that it's just fine to be like this.

Mostly and i have to admit that we lack father figure, we suffer cruelty when we are young that makes like this, but not all came from a broken family.

It seems natural to me that Asians have a small bone structure and minimal body hair. They can change sex roles with no effort compared to other racial body types.
