Hi Joyce, one of the side affects of spironolactone is reduction in hair. It is an antiandrogen. It needs to be used in combination with hormones as I think spiro is not incredibly strong. There are stronger preperations available.
You would be better at looking at laser hair treatment. This will give quicker and more noticeable results.
Are you taking hormones? If you aren't, you probably won't get as good results.
Good luck.

Hi Joyce, Yes, I take 100mg /day too. That is a relatively mild dosage. You can take 200mg. How long have you been taking hormones?

Hi Joyce, it can take up to two years to see the full effects of hormones. It is a slow and gradual process. As far as I am aware there will be no real feminisation of the voice. There will be some softening but you will have to get a speech therapist. There may be some internet resources available. Eg http://www.tsroadmap.com/voice/transsexual-voice.html I don't know about the quality of this website, it is just an example. What dosage of hormones are you on? You also need to get blood tests regularily. You need to check your kidney and liver function. The hormones can damage your liver and kidneys and this test will dertmine if there has been any damage. This is especially a problem if you are overdosing or if you are a FtM trans taking testosterone. Testosterone is a very potent chemical. Of course, this doesn't apply to you. The other thing that you will need to watch in the future is prolactin. This won't apply to you for a long time though. Long term hormone treatment can cause problems with prolactin levels. Again, this only applies to people who have been on hormones for 10 years of more. Good luck. Mame

Hi Joyce,
The shape of a woman is part genetics and part hormones. Given time, your body shape will change. Especially if you are carrying a little bit of weight. The hormones work on the way fat is moved around your body.
There is no need to injections for your hips. I am not sure what they are but it doesn't sound good. You can get liposuction and fat injections to help with shape. But remember that it takes up to two years for the hormones to take effect. Think about how long it takes for a teenage girl to grow from a girl to a woman. Give it time.
I wouldn't be too concerned about hormones. The human body is designed to accomodate them so they are not exactly a foreign chemical. You can overdose though.
I have posted somewhere else here about the benefits of taking a low aspirin dosage every day. I recommend 200mg. That is less than half of a normal aspirin. You can get special low dosage aspirin that are around 100mg. The recommended dosage is 100mg but I take 200mg because a small but significant number of people are resistant to the lower dosage and don't get the benefits. Taking 200mg is still a low dosage and counters this effect. The benefits of taking aspirin daily is primarily to help counteract bloodclots which are a known side effect of estrogen. The other benefits include general ciruclatory and heart health and they have recently discovered that it helps to significantly reduce incidence of bowel cancers.
I highly recommend the aspirin.
There is nothing to be scared about with taking hormones. Just be aware of the potential problems and try to avoid overdosing.
If you can, find a good doctor you can trust. They can monitor things like blood pressure and do blood tests.
Good luck Joyce.
Mame
