I don't mean to seem rude. I am asking this out of ignorance, but seek enlightenment. Because of the large number of tgirls in Thailand, do you think most of the ladyboys there are in the sex trade?

Not all but many, that's right. Especially If you go to cities like Pattaya, Bangkok or Phuket you can see a lot of them in the sex industry.

A lot of TS can't get regular jobs so they resort to the sex trade to make ends meet. M.

both oztgirl and TS_Shiera right as some point.. i view it this way, MAYBE that industry consider easy money plus pleasure.. ofcourse there discriminations and ofcourse there ways too or other job to do.. ie, mostly transgender good in fashion and beauty, i mean with skills job.. and ofcourse there job some where some how if they want it.. I know few girls work as makeup artist, fashion editor, travel agencies etc etc.. yeah but have to face few dissapointment along the way before to get the job.. i guess dissappointment stop us sometimes.. p.s you are right shiera, demand and supply, economic concept..

Shiera... if you mean that's so simple as you write... hmm, I don't agree with you. Of course, you can make easy money and maybe you can earn more than other girls in your country but if I read your profile where you be looking for the Mister right and a long-term relationship, then I ask myself which man who wants to have a serious relationship with a t-girl wants to live with an escort-girl. Please explain it to me because I see that problem a bit different.

@Wordman... yes you are right in thinking about tgirls in Thailand. Unfortunataly the most tgirls work in the sex industry. I know and I can feel with you mate, however that point is really a pity and it is not easy to find or meet a girl that doesn't work like a prostitute or go-go and sells herself for a bit money. Anyway I hope you can find what you be looking for. Cheers

Hi Fonesca, You do have a valid point but I would counter your argument that we can't sit around waiting for Mr Right to come along and rescue us. Especially considering it may never happen. I think this is particularly poignant in countries were TS have no other option to support themselves. It is not an absolute necessity in Australia as we have a welfare system and laws that protect TS in the workplace. Many other TS in other parts of the world don't have the same choices. No welfare, no family support and no legal protection in the workplace means drugs or prostitution are the only options. I have little doubt that the majority of TS would stop prostituting themselves immediately if the right guy came along and he was genuine. I think the most damaging thing about prostitution is that it impeded possible relationships and it does damage a womans perception of the opposite sex. It is very easy to become cynical in the life of a prostitute. M.

I've read all these responses and I thank everyone for taking the time. Since most of you have mentioned the strong pull of the money factor, let me ask you this. Are there young Asian males who make the decision to become tgirls because they see it as a way to make money, even though their sexual orientation is heterosexual?
