It just occurred to me that none of the TS here have mentioned taking a low dosage of aspirin with their hormones.

I have taken a daily dosage of 100mg of aspirin for years to help offset the health risks associated with taking hormones. The low dosage of aspirin helps prevent blood clotting which is sometimes associated with hormones. There are specific tablets for this purpose which usually contain 100mg of aspirin.

There are other benefits of taking low dose aspirin which can benefit our male members too.

I just thought I would mention this.

Hi Lovingsoul, I am not sure of any specific health problems long term aspirin use take. Also, the dosage of 100mg is quite low. I have read plenty of articles that suggest there are significant health benefits to long term aspirin use including blood clotting, heart attack and stroke. After a quick Google search, it seems that studies also suggest increased protection against cancer including colorectal cancer.

I currently don't have a proper dosage for hormones. I am seeing my endocrinologist next week and I am hoping to get some answers to my hormone problems.

As previously mentioned, my hormones have been haywire and my face has become more masculine. I had my hormone levels tested and while I have testosterone the same as a woman, my estrogen was very low despite taking a high dose.

I will let you know what my new dosage is next week. :)

I read about it in a newspaper article and my pharmacist and doctor agreed. I have been taking it for a long time. I think I first read about the benefits before I went on hormones. You only need the low dose of 100mg a day. I don't know about Malaysia, but in Australia you can buy special aspirin with the low dosage so you don't have to break up the normal Aspirin tablets.

Hi,

would highly recommend a small aspirin dose daily for almost everyone, especailly for those on hormones. Clear benefits for cardiac health, and probable benefits for colorectal health too.

I disagree with you all,

in the absecnce of multirsik factors all the evidence will not support taking asprine just for sake of prevention. in fact some studies showed increase mortality by taking asprin among female with hypertension and younger than 50 years of age.

but if you have many risk factors like smoking, high cholesterol, dibetes, strong family history, I think it will be wise to take it, however old age might beneift even in absence of any risk factors.

death risk or anual mortality risk from aspirn alone is 2% for everybody and this risk will go high if you suffering from bleeding before, on other antiplatet agent, on warfarine or have gastric ulcer before. in all these cases taking asprine should be clearly by risk and benefite assement which will be obviously by your doctor not by yourself.
in conlcusion, dont take asprine by yourself but rather seek expert advice.

You can also take "Childrens aspirin" which is about 80mg. When I mentioned it to my dr, he said not to bother.
