I thought I would put a post here for those transsexuals in Australia who want to access injectable oestrogen.

As most Australian transgenders are aware, the only commercially available injectable estrogen, Primogyn Depot is no longer available. The drug was removed from the PBS and eventually withdrawn from sale. One of the main advantages of the injectable estrogen was that it initially bypasses the liver and therefore more 'pure' when it enters circulation. The injectable form of estrogen is also less likely to cause the clotting problems.

The alternative to the injections is the use of other transdermal oestrogens - patches and gels. Oestradiol Valerate (the estrogen in Primogyn Depot) is available in both forms on the PBS. Implants are also available but are a little complicated to have administered. The gels and patches also share the advantages I mentioned above for injectable estrogen.

As far as I am aware, it is illegal to import all injectable medications into Australia (even with a permit) so purchasing from overseas could be risky.

If however you would like to still take the injections, you may still be able to. Compounding pharmacies are pharmacies that make their own medications - they can tailor make medicines to specific needs. Some pharmacies have what are known as 'clean rooms' where they can make injections. Most pharmacies with clean rooms should be able to make Primogyn Depot injections exactly the same as the commercially available product - 10mg estradiol valerate in 1ml oily solution.

I know of one pharmacy in Brisbane that makes it and can fill perscriptions by mail order. If you know of any other pharmacies also doing this, please post and include them on the list.

good information. glad to know that compounding pharmacies
are viable alternatives. shipping in from overseas is a blessing,
but would much prefer to give my local chemist the business.

Hi.

Its not illegal to import Progynon Depot under the personal import scheme. (I presently import it and have been using it for 5 months) (Info available here)
My packages have been opened by customs and have been passed along to me without problem.

There is a bit of a grey area for in one of the customs' FAQ's they state no injectables of any kind, however when you read into it and dig around, it is only for animal products and other drugs, such as steroids(as stated below). Steroids are mentioned countless times, as well as sex steroids, but that only covers testosterone. I have contacted customs in the past regarding this, they have opened my packages (REMEMBER: They WILL open it and it WILL take a week or two longer while they stuff around, account for this delay when ordering) The only reason that I can see that I can order this is because its simply not available here.

It ranges in price from 14.00 through to over 44.00 (USD), there are countless pharmacies that offer these items and more. Am I allowed to paste links to pharmacies here? I pay $14.80 USD per box of 10 ampoules, 10mg/ml in Arachis, and $25 USD for delivery, the meds are by Caldila Healthcare/German Remedies)

Just a question, why was primogyn removed?

As with many aspects of the regulatory framework, there are situations where special policies have been developed in response to the needs of particular people or circumstances.

Individuals can legally import most therapeutic goods for personal use under the Personal Import Scheme. However, certain criteria, such as the quantity that can be imported in any twelve-month period, must be met and it is illegal to supply goods imported under this Scheme to persons outside the importer's immediate family.

The Scheme does not allow either the importation of drugs prohibited by Customs legislation or injectable drugs that contain material of human or animal origin (except insulin), unless an import permit has been obtained.

If you order this, the amps are a PAIN to open. They are not pre scored, I smashed the first one I had. Get yourself a very fine toothed saw, like a junior coping saw blade (a few dollars for a packet), they are easy to snap and are convenient to keep with your meds. Score the amp at the base of the neck, not on the brown line.. Once you have scored it, be very careful, it is likely to "pop" open, so keep the amp angled with the neck up, get a pen cap and put it over the top of the amp and snap it off, if you scored it correctly it should take very little pressure. Since doing this, I have not broken one.
Commercial openers (such as the clic opener) are available, but this works well too.
Until you are used to it, I suggest holding the amp in paper or something, I used to use the wrapper from the alcohol swab, folded its quite strong.
Some girls use filter needles, I am yet to find an Australian supplier for such an item. (A 5 micron filter that filters out any stray glass. In my 5 months, I haven't seen glass in my shot once)

Good luck.

The first order I made was delayed by more than a week getting through customs. I suggest you order on a monday or sunday, allowing for extra time. I order with a few amps left, just to cover any delays.
